Arvalee School Students Council check on School progress

The Students Council met with Mr Gray to check on the progress of the new school, look at the playgrounds and look at ways they feel Arvalee could be better.

Mr Gray gave them an update on the progress and the Council agreed to go back to the other pupils to get ideas for the playgrounds. The current Senior Playground was also discussed and a need to look at resources for young people who don't like team games so they can enjoy lunch times. The Council are to discuss this further and meet with Mr Gray in a couple of Weeks. The Council will also discuss the Shared Campus at this meeting.

The Council presented some requests which they had discussed with other pupils, including

  • More time to play outside at lunch times
  • A review of lunch time clubs to include Tennis as an option
  • Clarification as to the Toilets that Post 16 can use
  • A review of 'Rainy Day' break activities to ensure that activities happen in the hall for pupils who want to be active
  • More information at Year 10 about the College options

Mr Gray will take these issues back to the School Leadership Team and a report will be given at the meeting in two weeks time.

Mr O'Gara has agreed to support the Council and at the next meeting they will elect a Chair person and a Secretary.
